"What we're looking for in language training is custom-built courses and tuition designed to suit our employees' individual needs," says Henk Oomen, who heads up the Training Division of the steel plant at the international metal company Corus in IJmuiden.
Henk was asked a while ago to find a language school for three employees that needed to improve their German as their jobs involve frequent contacts with German suppliers and customers.
Since they all three happen to live in and around Alkmaar, Henk explains they preferred attending a course close to home.
"We picked the Alkmaar-based language institute PCI, where they're being taught German with a view to improving their conversational abilities and coming to grips with technical terms."
Henk adds Corus have contracted with PCI for a maximum of 50 lessons, with an evaluation of employees' performance and progress after each session of ten lessons.
"In terms of made-to-measure language training, I think PCI and its teachers have done an excellent job so far," says Henk.
